Our standards of care
Ethics and Safety
Mediumship meets people at some of the most tender moments of their lives. These are the standards we hold ourselves, our students and our graduates to.
The School teaches evidential mediumship within the traditions it comes from, with care for everyone involved: the sitter, the student, and the person who is remembered.
Honest limits
What Mediumship Can and Cannot Offer
Evidential mediumship aims to offer specific, recognisable information about a person who has died, so that the sitter can judge for themselves what is meaningful. Many people find comfort, connection and meaning in a sitting. We are equally clear about its limits.
-
No guarantees
No medium can promise that a particular person will communicate, or that a sitting will contain any particular information.
-
Not proof
Within the traditions we teach, this information is understood as communication from the spirit world. It is a spiritual framework; survival after death has not been established as a scientific fact.
-
Not fortune-telling
Neither our sittings nor our teaching offer predictions about the future, health, relationships or money.
-
Not professional advice
A sitting is not counselling, therapy, or medical, legal or financial advice, and it never replaces them.
When something is not recognised, a responsible medium says so.
For the people we read for
Care for Sitters
-
Consent first
A sitting is given only to someone who has asked for one. In training, students practise with one another, and sometimes with volunteers who have agreed beforehand.
-
After a recent loss
There is no fixed waiting period. What matters is that the person feels settled enough to receive a sitting. If someone seems overwhelmed, we gently suggest waiting and help them find support.
-
No fear and no dependency
We do not give frightening messages, warnings or talk of curses, and we never encourage repeated sittings as a way to stay in touch.
-
Confidentiality
What a sitter shares stays private. Personal or family details are never published without the sitter’s written consent.
-
The right to stop
A sitter may pause or end a sitting at any time, without giving a reason.
-
Adults only
Sittings and training are for people aged 18 and over.
For the people we teach
Care for Students
Mediumship training can bring strong feelings to the surface, especially for people who have lost someone. Care is built into how we teach.
-
A suitability conversation
Every applicant has a Clarity & Suitability Conversation with Mr. Arrjun Sharma, Director, before enrolling. We ask about anything that may affect your participation, such as a recent bereavement or current mental-health treatment. A diagnosis is never required.
-
Supervised practice in small groups
No more than 12 students, taught in person. Topics may be led by either trainer or by both together, and both trainers oversee practice.
-
The right to pause
You may step out of any exercise, or sit one out, at any time.
-
No substances
The training uses no psychoactive substances, and students attend free of alcohol and recreational drugs.
-
Honesty about timing
If the conversation suggests that training is not in your interest right now, we will say so and suggest a better time.
Our shared standards
What We Expect of Students and Graduates
- Consent before every practice sitting, and confidentiality afterwards.
- No health, diagnostic or medical claims, and no predictions about illness or death.
- No pressure on a sitter to believe, to pay for more, or to return.
- Respect for the traditions of mediumship and for other practitioners.
- Honest description of training: the Certificate of Completion confirms that a student completed the programme. It is not a professional mediumship qualification, and graduates do not present it as one.
Your privacy
Recording, Photographs and Privacy
Students may not record or photograph sessions. The School photographs and records parts of the training; any extract that includes a sitter’s personal or family details is published only with that sitter’s written consent, and you may ask not to appear in promotional material. How we collect and keep your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
