Understanding the foundation
What Is Evidential Mediumship Training?
Evidential mediumship is the practice of exploring a connection with those who have passed to the spirit world, with the intention of bringing through specific information that their loved ones may recognise.
This information may relate to a person’s character, memories, relationships, experiences or everyday life. The emphasis is on meaningful details that the person receiving the communication — known in mediumship as the sitter — can recognise and validate, rather than general statements or comforting messages alone.
At The School of Mediumship, Level 1 introduces you to the foundations of this practice through guided exercises, regular practice and supportive feedback.
You will explore how impressions arise, how your own thoughts and expectations may influence what you perceive, and how to communicate information with clarity, honesty and sensitivity.
An important part of this learning is developing the ability to listen, respect the sitter’s responses, and remain comfortable acknowledging when something is unclear or unknown.
Let the evidence come first.
Our approach encourages you to develop discernment alongside spiritual awareness — recognising the difference between an impression, your interpretation of it, and information that has been meaningfully validated.
The intention is not to rush your development or promise particular results, but to help you establish a thoughtful, compassionate and responsible foundation from which your mediumship can continue to grow.
What Level 1 sets out to do
Level 1 gives you the time, teaching and practical experience to understand how evidential mediumship is developed within the Spiritualist tradition. You will learn to work with greater clarity, develop evidence a sitter can recognise, and understand the importance of sensitivity, honesty and responsibility in mediumship.
Students learn to notice an impression before trying to explain it, to describe it without embellishment, and to let the sitter respond without being guided towards an answer. The difference between evidence and message matters: a meaningful message has its place, but it should not replace the effort to establish recognisable information about a spirit communicator.
With a small group of students, regular practice and constructive feedback from your teachers, you will begin building a strong foundation for your continued development.
- Spiritual awareness
- Recognisable evidence
- Discernment
- Ethical private sittings
- Continued development
Is this for you?
Who This Training Is Designed For
There is no single background from which people come to mediumship. Some students are beginning to explore their sensitivity; others have experienced psychic or mediumistic impressions for years but want to understand them more clearly. Level 1 welcomes both, provided they are willing to learn, practise and receive feedback.
-
Beginning your mediumship development
You may be new to the field and looking for a thorough introduction rather than isolated exercises. The course offers a sequence in which essential concepts are explained and then explored through practice.
-
Exploring experiences you already recognise
You may be familiar with intuitive impressions, clairvoyance, clairsentience, dreams or other forms of spiritual awareness, yet want to distinguish psychic perception from information attributed to a spirit communicator.
-
Looking for greater structure in your practice
You may have attended development circles or short workshops and now wish to work more consistently with evidential detail, sitter feedback, the flow of a private sitting and your own interpretation of impressions.
Before you apply
- 18 and overLevel 1 is open to adults beginning or continuing their mediumship development.
- Taught in EnglishAll teaching, discussion and practice take place in English.
- No prerequisitesNo previous mediumship course is needed. Soul Consciousness Lab® trainings in out-of-body experience, Shamanism or Monroe programmes are not required.
- Fully residentialEvery student stays at the venue, because partner practice continues after classroom hours and some exercises are set for early mornings.
Students are expected to participate respectfully and follow the School’s ethical and safeguarding guidelines.
Scope and limits
What This Training Is — and What It Is Not
A clear understanding of a programme is as important as enthusiasm for joining it. Level 1 has a defined educational purpose, and we believe you should know both its scope and its limits before you apply.
What this training offers
- Six days of residential learning devoted to the foundations of evidential mediumship.
- Teaching, practical exercises, partner work, trainer observation and meaningful feedback.
- An introduction to spirit communication as understood within the Spiritualist tradition, including evidence, discernment and the structure of private sittings.
- Attention to consent, confidentiality, grief sensitivity, boundaries and responsible communication.
- A pathway for further study and continuing peer practice after the programme.
What this training does not promise
- A particular spirit communicator, experience, reading or evidential result.
- Automatic readiness to practise independently as a professional medium, or the title “Certified Medium”.
- Comprehensive training in trance mediumship, physical mediumship, spirit art, public demonstration or other specialist disciplines.
- A substitute for bereavement counselling, psychological treatment or medical care.
We regard these distinctions as part of responsible teaching, not limitations to be concealed. They help each student approach the training with informed expectations and respect for the work.
Meet the faculty
The People Behind the Teaching Practising mediums who studied in person before they taught
A student should know who will teach them, what those teachers have studied, and how the teaching will take place.

Dr. Rashhi Sharma, PhD
Founder & Lead Trainer
Dr. Rashhi leads the School's educational direction. Her mediumship study began with Suzanne Giesemann in the United States and continued in person at Arthur Findlay College and The College of Psychic Studies in the United Kingdom. She chose to practise for years before teaching. Her long-standing work in hypnosis, regression and consciousness education informs how she teaches; her PhD is in Environmental Sciences.

Prabhat Sharma
Trainer
Prabhat's connection with spirit began in early childhood, and he was given space to explore it in his own time. He has since studied mediumship at Arthur Findlay College and The College of Psychic Studies, and brings five years of practice and experience co-teaching Soul Consciousness Lab® programmes. He teaches alongside Dr. Rashhi as full co-faculty, co-leading practical development, student observation and feedback.
Their studies at these colleges do not imply that the colleges endorse, accredit or certify the School.
Meet our facultyWhy this programme
What Makes This Training Different
When considering a mediumship programme, its duration or title tells only part of the story. The amount you practise, the attention you receive and the standards your teachers hold matter just as much.
-
You practise from the first day
Teaching and practical development run together throughout the six days, so each new idea is explored through experience. Over the six days, each student takes part in 20 to 25 supervised practice sessions, working on the different elements of evidential mediumship with fellow students and on the platform — standing before the group, as a medium does in a demonstration — under the trainers’ supervision.
-
No more than twelve students
With a maximum of 12 students, the faculty can follow how each person approaches the exercises, answer questions as they arise and give feedback on what is actually happening in practice.
-
Six residential days, not a weekend
Living and studying at the venue lets practice continue between sessions. You work with different partners, return to an exercise once feedback has settled, and continue assigned practice early in the morning and in the evening, across 70 total training hours.
-
Feedback is treated as a learning tool
You learn to notice what you originally perceived, how you expressed it and what the sitter actually recognised. An unrecognised detail is not brushed aside; it is a chance to examine interpretation, assumption and the quality of evidence.
-
Clear standards, stated in advance
The requirements for the Certificate of Completion, what it represents and what it does not are set out before you enrol. You know from the start what is expected of you.
-
Your development continues with a community
Eligible graduates join monthly online group sessions with Dr. Rashhi, mediumship peer practice and the wider Soul Consciousness Lab® alumni community, under the current training terms.
Residential or online?
Online workshops and shorter courses have real value. They can introduce a teacher’s approach or a single skill, and they make learning possible when travel is not. A residential foundation is a different commitment: recognising an impression is only one part of the work, and learning to describe it accurately, sustain a line of evidence and conduct a responsible private sitting takes time and continuity.
When comparing options, look beyond the headline fee to how much practice is included, whether teachers observe you, what the certificate represents and what support continues afterwards.
Questions to ask any providerWhat matters is not only what you are taught, but how you are supported in learning to apply it.
Curriculum
What You Will Learn
Level 1 introduces the essential areas of mental and evidential mediumship — mental mediumship being communication perceived through the medium’s own mind, as impressions, images, words or feelings. The emphasis is on understanding the process and practising it responsibly. These are learning areas; not every student will experience each form of perception in the same way.
-
Preparation, presence and sitting in the power
Practices used in mediumship development to settle the mind, deepen awareness and prepare for focused, respectful work, including sitting in the power: a regular meditative practice, central to Spiritualist development, of sitting in stillness to strengthen awareness of one’s own spirit and the power with which the medium works.
-
The ways impressions may be experienced
Clairvoyance (seeing), clairaudience (hearing), clairsentience (sensing or feeling), intuitive knowing and symbolic impressions. You practise describing what you receive before interpreting it.
-
Psychic awareness and mediumistic communication
How mediumship teaching distinguishes psychic impressions from information attributed to a spirit communicator, and why assumptions about the source of an impression must be examined carefully.
-
Developing recognisable evidence
Working with personality, relationships, memories, habits and experiences, and why specific, connected information is generally more valuable than broad statements that could apply to many people.
-
The structure of a private sitting
The stages of a sitting, from preparation and opening through evidence and feedback to an appropriate close, without leading the sitter or asking questions that supply the information you are trying to establish.
-
Ethics, discernment and sitter care
Consent, confidentiality, sensitivity to grief, responsible boundaries, and honesty about what is clear or uncertain, respecting both recognition and non-recognition.
The six-day learning journey
The programme moves from foundational understanding to increasingly connected practical work. Each day builds on the last, with space to return to essential principles whenever needed.
-
Day 1
Foundations and preparation
Meet the faculty, understand the expectations of the training and begin with the ethical foundations of mediumship. Sitting in the power, awareness, the distinction between psychic and mediumistic perception, and introductory exercises.
-
Day 2
Understanding perception
The clairs, intuitive knowing and symbolic language. Practise noticing and describing impressions clearly, without forcing them to fit a meaning. Partner exercises introduce careful feedback.
-
Day 3
Working towards evidence
Developing recognisable information about a spirit communicator, including relationships, character, memories and everyday life, and how specificity, context and the sitter’s responses shape what is communicated.
-
Day 4
Continuity and coherence
Staying with a developing line of communication rather than moving between disconnected impressions, and responding well when information is unclear or not recognised.
-
Day 5
The private evidential sitting
Sustained partner sittings bringing the week together: the flow of evidence, consent, non-leading feedback, the sitter’s experience and responsible closure, observed and reviewed by the trainers.
-
Day 6
Integration and next steps
Continued practice, reflection and review; ethical responsibility; the meaning of the Certificate of Completion; and planning your development after returning home.
The 70 total training hours include teaching, discussion, guided exercises, supervised practice and mandatory homework; they are not 70 hours of direct instructor contact. The trainers direct the detailed exercise sequence and may adjust it to support the group. See daily times.
Our method
How We Teach: Practice, Observation and Feedback
Mediumship development involves more than learning terminology or remembering a sequence of exercises. Students need to understand what they experienced, how they communicated it and how it was received. Our teaching therefore brings practical work together with observation, constructive feedback and reflection.
-
Perceive
Notice the original impression. It may arise as an image, feeling, word, knowing or symbol. Give yourself time to recognise what is present before deciding what it means.
-
Describe
Communicate the impression as faithfully as you can. Avoid making it more dramatic or more certain than it was, and take care not to lead the sitter towards a particular response.
-
Receive feedback
Listen to what the sitter recognises, questions or does not recognise. It is the sitter who validates evidence; their response should be received without pressure, and not every impression will be understood or confirmed.
-
Reflect
Consider what you perceived, what you interpreted, what was recognised and what remains open. Useful learning often begins here, particularly when an exercise does not unfold as expected.
Partner practice and trainer observation return students to these principles throughout the course. They are practical teaching steps, not a scientific method for proving the source of spiritual impressions.
Being comfortable saying “I do not know” is part of developing integrity in mediumship.

Assessment
Assessment and Certificate of Completion
Students who meet the programme requirements receive a Certificate of Completion — Evidential Mediumship Level 1, issued by Soul Consciousness Lab® through The School of Mediumship.
Completion is based on more than attending the six days. The faculty consider participation, required assignments, observed application of taught practices, understanding of ethical responsibilities, engagement with feedback and conduct during training. Attendance or payment alone does not guarantee the award. The detailed assessment process is maintained by the School.
The certificate records completion of this defined 70-total-hour programme and the requirements met. It is not a licence to practise, an external accreditation or the title “Certified Medium”, and it does not guarantee any particular mediumistic experience or professional competence.
Continued mediumship development remains an individual responsibility.
After the course
The Training Ends. The Support Does Not.
Some of the most useful questions arise after the course, when you begin practising without the full group around you. A reading may unfold differently from what you experienced in class; a detail may be recognised later, or you may want to understand an impression that remained unclear. Continued development benefits from people with whom you can reflect and practise responsibly.
Graduates holding the Level 1 Certificate of Completion join the same continuing-support category as other eligible Soul Consciousness Lab® graduates, at no further membership charge under the current training terms.
-

Progression
Your Development Beyond Level 1
Evidential mediumship is developed through repeated practice, honest observation and a growing sense of responsibility towards the sitter. Level 1 is intended as a beginning within a wider path of study.
Continuing your practice
- Continue sitting in the power, awareness exercises and personal reflection.
- Arrange respectful peer practice with clear consent, boundaries and honest feedback.
- Practise the introductory private-sitting structure in learning settings, without assuming professional readiness.
- Review what a sitter recognised, where uncertainty remained and how your interpretation shaped an exercise.

Your questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers to the questions prospective students ask most often, from readiness and wellbeing to fees, travel and the certificate.
Message us and we will reply within 24 hours.
Ask on WhatsAppSuitability and readiness
Can a complete beginner join Evidential Mediumship Level 1?
Yes. Adults aged 18 or over who are new to mediumship may apply. The programme introduces the foundations rather than assuming you have completed a development circle or another course. Participation remains subject to normal suitability, consent and conduct requirements.
Do I need to have had psychic or mediumistic experiences already?
No. Some students arrive with years of experience; others come with curiosity and a sincere wish to learn. Level 1 begins with awareness and preparation practices, and every student develops at an individual pace.
Do I need to complete OBE, Shamanism or Monroe training first?
No. These are separate areas of study and are not prerequisites for Level 1.
Do I need to be a Spiritualist or hold particular beliefs?
No. Level 1 is taught within the Spiritualist tradition and uses its terminology, but students of any faith or none are welcome. We ask only that you approach the work with openness, honesty and respect for others’ beliefs.
I have recently lost someone close to me. Is this the right time to train?
Many people are drawn to mediumship after a loss, and you are welcome to apply. Level 1 is a training programme, not a way to contact a particular loved one or a form of bereavement support. If your loss is recent, please mention it during the clarity and suitability conversation so that we can consider together whether now is the right time for intensive residential training.
Is mediumship development safe?
Level 1 takes place in a structured, supervised setting, with attention to preparation, grounding, consent and clear boundaries throughout. It is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. If you are receiving treatment for your mental health or going through a period of acute distress, please tell us during the clarity and suitability conversation, so that we can talk openly about whether this training suits you at present.
The training
What language is the training taught in?
English.
Does 70 hours mean 70 hours with a trainer?
No. The 70-hour total includes teaching, discussion, classroom exercises, supervised practice and mandatory homework or independent learning.
Will I practise giving private evidential sittings?
Yes. Each student takes part in 20 to 25 supervised practice sessions, including private sittings with fellow students and practice in front of the group on the platform. Partner work covers evidence, sitter responses, consent and closure; the trainers direct the exact exercises and their sequence.
What if I don’t receive anything during an exercise?
That is a common experience, especially at the beginning, and it is part of learning. You will practise staying with the process, describing honestly what is and is not present, and accepting non-recognition without pressure. No one is expected to perform, and the trainers support you through it.
Will I have to work in front of the group?
Yes. Platform practice — standing before the group, as a medium does in a demonstration — is part of the 20 to 25 supervised practice sessions. It takes place in a small, supportive group under the trainers’ guidance.
Can I record the sessions?
You are encouraged to take notes. Students may not record or photograph sessions, to protect the confidentiality of fellow students and sitters. The School photographs and records the training for teaching and to share its work; any extract that includes a sitter’s personal or family details is published only with that sitter’s written consent, and you may ask not to appear in promotional material.
What if I miss part of the training?
Full attendance and participation are requirements for the Certificate of Completion. If illness or an emergency affects your attendance, speak to the faculty as soon as possible; missed sessions may affect whether the certificate can be awarded.
Can the training guarantee communication with a particular loved one?
No. Mediumship is taught within a spiritual and experiential framework, and students’ experiences vary. We do not guarantee a specific spirit communicator, evidential detail or reading outcome.
Residential stay
Can I attend without staying at the resort?
No. Level 1 is fully residential for every student, including those who live in Bengaluru, because partner practice continues after classroom hours and some exercises take place early in the morning.
What happens if there is no one to share my room?
Shared rooms depend on a suitable partner and are allocated by order of joining. If sharing is unavailable, the single-room rate applies, and we confirm your room and total before final confirmation.
Can a partner or family member stay with me?
Yes. A partner or family member may stay with you at the resort, paying for their own accommodation and meals. The training sessions themselves are for enrolled students only. Please tell us in advance so that we can confirm the arrangement and cost with you.
What meals are served?
Meals are served buffet-style, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian North and South Indian dishes and occasional Chinese options. All meals during your five-night stay are included in the accommodation charge.
Can special dietary needs or accessibility requirements be accommodated?
We cannot guarantee special arrangements, but please let us know in advance. We will check with the resort and confirm what is possible; a special diet may involve an additional cost.
What should I bring or wear?
Comfortable clothing, as the training days are long, and a notebook for your reflections. Check the Bengaluru weather forecast before you pack.
Fees and booking
How much do I pay to reserve a place, and when is the balance due?
The booking deposit is ₹50,000, credited towards tuition. The remaining ₹81,000 tuition and your confirmed accommodation charge are due by 26 November 2026. See the full fees.
Can I cancel or transfer my place?
The deposit is non-refundable unless the School cancels. If you cancel on or before 13 November 2026, your place can move to a future Level 1 cohort; after that, a transfer is still possible but accommodation charges are forfeited. The full Training Terms apply.
How do international students pay?
International students can pay by international bank transfer or through a secure card payment link for credit and debit cards. We confirm the exact amount and payment details in your written confirmation.
Will I receive an invoice and receipt?
Yes. Payments and invoices are issued by Soul Consciousness Lab®, and your receipt arrives with your registration confirmation email and next steps.
Certificate and after
What certificate will I receive?
Students who meet the attendance, practical, assignment, ethical and conduct requirements receive a Certificate of Completion — Evidential Mediumship Level 1, issued by Soul Consciousness Lab® through The School of Mediumship. Attendance or payment alone does not guarantee the award.
Does Level 1 qualify me to work professionally as a medium?
Not automatically. Level 1 provides foundational education and assessed practical participation. Professional readiness requires further development, competence and responsible judgement.
Do I need Level 1 before Level 2?
Yes, or equivalent development together with a readiness review. Level 2 dates, tuition and applications will be announced when approved.
What support will I have after the training?
Eligible graduates can join monthly online group sessions with Dr. Rashhi Sharma, mediumship peer practice and the wider SCL graduate community under the current training terms. This does not include guaranteed immediate responses or unlimited one-to-one mentoring. More about support.
Message us and we will reply within 24 hours.
